Jacob Daniel Hildebrandt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Jake Hildebrandt.

He is predeceased by three brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.

Jake is survived by his loving wife, Susan, of sixty-three years, seven children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Jake was born in the Montcalm municipality and spent his younger years on the farm in Stuartburn, Manitoba. With the help of his brothers, John and Abe, he was able to pursue his goal of becoming a teacher. His teaching career spanned thirty-three years, the majority of which was spent in Vita, MB.

Father was active in the community: sitting as President of the Vita Credit Union for sixteen years, volunteering on the Vita Fire Department for eighteen years, and acting as secretary-treasurer of the Game & Fish Club.

Father loved the outdoors and experiencing nature. In his later years, snowmobiling and rearranging his garage were his passions.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Stuartburn Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, followed by a lunch. Interment will take place at the Old Sommerfeld Cemetery.
