Celestin Guiboche Obituary

In loving remembrance of Celestin Guiboche. It is with great sadness we share with you the loss of our father (Pops), grandfather, brother, uncle (Unkie), nephew, friend and confidant.

Cel was predeceased by his loving parents who he absolutely adored and Lena, the mother of his children. His losses include his son, Kenny, granddaughter Heather as well as his brothers and sisters. He is survived by the loves of his life, Billy, Myrna and Brad. We would like to make mention of his great nephew Kelly Irvine who just recently spent a memorable evening with his immediate family. We also wish to acknowledge many friends and family that have been lost along this journey of life.

Cel had a long career as a Vice President overseeing many MMF organizations.  He was responsible for what we now know as Pritchard House to help the addicted. This came about as he and his family had rented a house on Pritchard Avenue and he saw the struggles of poverty and addiction of those around him. He was able to change what he witnessed through the MMF Centre that he represented. He created a safe haven for those in need and called it Pritchard House. Throughout the years the Pritchard House flourished and received recognition from the government. To this day the Pritchard House is a safe haven for those in need. He also cofounded Kinew Housing to make affordable housing available for the native community. This was his dream that became a reality as both Pritchard House and Kinew Housing are benefiting many people. It began with a man with a goal. He worked with pride and with no prejudices. He longed to see the day that his people no longer struggled for the simplicities in life.

His career did not stop at MMF, he went on to be a logger as he loved nature. He had many years in the lumber business as his experience was very extensive.

His daily joys were his walks to Portage Place to reminisce days of yore with the boys. He enjoyed trading daily stories with the men he called the boys.

He loved to laugh and play jokes on his family and friends. His joy for life was so infectious!

He was a man that took every opportunity open to him and he embraced it because of his love for life. He shared this gift to his children and grandchildren.

His family life continued well into every seasonal celebration. His loved ones all came together and shared laughter and stories.

He was a family man in every sense of the word. He worked very hard so his family didn’t have to.

He enjoyed the time that was spent living with his son. Bradley gave him the freedom to live out his days as he chose to. Without out his boy, the treasure of his demeanor would never be known. Bradley completed his last days. To the care and attention given by his son brought out the best in him. In his son, he found an angel with wings wider than the world.

Myrna was his baby girl and they had a devoted relationship with many stories to tell. Myrna’s love for her father and their relationship is compared to none. For years Myrna didn’t know her name, she thought her name was “where’s your dad”.

This is the man that had the best sense of humor.

He would give you anything he had to help you and share a story to put a smile on your face.

As we remember him, let’s think of him as the person that he taught us to be,

In his memory he would want us to be thankful for each other and to respect one another placing family as a priority.

We would like to thank our friends and family for all your support and well wishes during this difficult time.

Services will be held at Korban Funeral Home 907 Main Street, Winnipeg MB at 11:00 AM on June 21, 2019.
