Cheryl Best Obituary

Cheryl Ann Best

With great sadness, Cheryl’s family announces her untimely passing on June 9 after a valiant battle with COVID-19. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Margaret and Faith; grandchildren, Trey, Micah, and Malachi; her siblings; a host of relatives, and countless friends across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and England. She was predeceased by her mother, Elmie Jaikaran, and some of her siblings.

Cheryl was born on July 12, 1955, in Trinidad. In 1972, she joined her mother and other relatives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where she completed high school at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and Grant Park.

Cheryl loved life and was determined to enjoy each day to its fullest. She loved laughing and sharing Trini jokes with her friends, game nights, and spending time with others.

With a tender, caring heart, Cheryl had a long career as a licensed practical nurse. Previously, she was also a Tupperware representative for many years. Having a creative sense for business, she soon started her own company, C. Best Mobile Foot Care Service, combining her business experience with her nursing skills.

A woman of faith, Cheryl gave her best, serving in various leadership roles in her church. Most recently, she was a part of women’s ministries and the prayer team.

Cheryl is fondly remembered for the hospitable spirit, gentleness, and kindness she displayed. She faced each health crisis with unwavering faith, refusing to let it stop her from living fully, overcoming dialysis, a kidney transplant, broken ankles, and more.

Special thanks to everyone who prayed for Cheryl during her battle with COVID-19. We are grateful to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their attentive care and to her sisters Joycelyn Young and Anna Jacques and their families.

A celebration of life will be held virtually on Sunday, July 18 at 1:00 pm (CDT). Everyone is welcome to watch on YouTube (youtube.com/hendersonhwysda) and Facebook (facebook.com/hendersonhwysda). Toll-free audio is also available by dialing 1 833 973 7422.
