Montemurro, Frank
May 19, 1935 – June 15, 2021
Franklino Eugenio Montemurro passed away peacefully on June 15, 2021 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba. Frank is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Annette and his four children, Ralph, Rosanne, Angie and Linda; grandchildren, Alexandria, Michelle, Dylan, Nicolas and Julian; great-grandchild, Jaxon; and, beloved brother, Tony.
Frank enjoyed a career which spanned 40 years, teaching at schools in Vancouver, Port Alberni and Mission school districts, including positions as Vice-principal and Principal in Langley, Hatzic and Mission, British Columbia. Early on in his career, Frank was actively involved in union activities. As chief negotiator of the salary committee with the Vancouver Elementary School Teacher’s Association (VESPA), he advocated for the “Single Salary Scale” which was implemented by the Vancouver School Board in the 1960s. This resulted in an increase in teachers finishing their Bachelor and Masters Degrees, with the ability to seek teaching positions they were better suited for at either the Elementary, Junior High or Secondary High school levels, without affecting their salaries. Frank obtained his Master’s degree from UBC in 1973.
Frank loved the great outdoors, building additions to his many properties over the years, camping, gardening, attending concerts, playing bridge with friends and playing tennis & golf. Frank travelled the world with his wife, Annette which culminated in a family trip to England in 2018. Frank was very proud of his family, always making time for Sunday dinners and regular visits with his kids and grandkids. He had full life and will be greatly missed.
Frank’s memorial service will be live-streamed on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021 at 2pm Central Daylight Time at Korban Funeral Chapel, via the Korban Funeral Chapel Facebook Icon which will direct you to the Korban Funeral Chapel Facebook page. You do not require a Facebook account to participate.
