Gordon Bernhardt Obituary

Peacefully on January 29, 2020 Gordon Bernhardt passed away after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Bonnie; his three children Craig, Cathy (Kirk) and Lisa (Curtis); his step children Jennifer (Norman),Tim (Kendra) and his beautiful grandchildren Robert, Justin, Joseph, Matthew and Joshua; his brother Clifford (Bev), sister Eileen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gordon worked at CP Rail for 41 years as a carman and first aid attendant.  He lived life to the fullest.  He has a love of animals with a special interest in birds and fish.  He knew his way around a garden and was extremely knowledgeable with all varieties of flowers and plants. 

He was involved with many organizations such as the Manitoba Canary and Finch Club, St. John’s Ambulance and many more.  Gordon had several recognizable achievements in his lifetime, especially his 175 blood donations presented to him by the Lt. Governor, and serving on the Department of Natural Defense.

He loved to make people laugh and had many stories to tell; each one in theatrical detail.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.

Service will be held on Thursday February 6, 2020 at 1:00 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street.
