Jeanne Dubois Obituary

JEANNE ALICE MARIE DUBOIS (Nee Preteau)

September 20th, 1946 – May 2nd, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. On May 2nd, 2021 Mom passed on at the age of 74 at the Repos Jolys in St. Pierre.

She will be sadly missed by her 4 children. Jeannette (Jerry Gentes), Rachel (Rob Walford), Joanne (Ron Paquette) and Roger Dubois. Mom lived for all her grandchildren. Justin, Jessica, Jasmine, RayAnne, Horace, Delayne, Daryl, Hope, Grace and her great grandchildren, Kayden, Asher, Colten, Ava and baby Isla.

Jeanne is survived by her siblings Julien (Linda) Preteau, Marcel (Betty) Preteau, Gisele (Richard) Gauthier, Leo (Beth) Preteau, Helene (Hans) Roemer, Marc (Lena) Preteau and Maurice Preteau.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Rene, her parents Denis & Marie-Ange Preteau, her brothers Roland Preteau & Gilbert Preteau, sisters Therese Roemer, Carmelle Frechette & Pauline Cote.

Mom was born in Winnipeg MB, Sept. 20th, 1946. She lived in St. Malo until she met the love of her life Rene Dubois. They were married November 16th, 1968. They lived in Edmonton, AB for several years but eventually returned to their hometown of St. Malo. She began her work career at an incredibly young age. Just to name a few she worked at KFC. the St. Malo Sewing Factory, Friendly Family Farms, St. Malo Hotel, St. Malo Day Care, and eventually was babysitting children in the community just to keep busy. She also co-owned a fast-food place called This Hamburger Joint. She was known to many as Memere. Mom’s home was always open to everyone. Sundays were always family days. When we were small, we always went on family drives and would end up in a small town for lunch. We always ended up in different little community restaurants. As we got older, and families grew mom decided that she was going to make lunch for all of us on Sundays. So, Sundays we would all go to moms for lunch, laughs and family time. Mom welcomed everyone as equals. All the foster children that come into her life were treated like her own grandkids. Mom was a very funny lady that spoke her mind. She was not shy to tell you what she was thinking. No filter, lol, if she did not like your shirt or hair color, she would let you know the first time she saw you. Mom enjoyed camping, sewing, and let us not forget BINGO. Bingo was mom’s way to relax. She sold the family home in 2019 and moved into the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo. There, she was like a mother hen. She helped everyone with anything they needed, especially with Bingo. She could almost always be found in the puzzle room. In 2020 mom moved in the Repos in St. Pierre. There the mother hen came out again and in the puzzle room mom was found spending most of her days.

We would like to thank the staff at the Chalet Malouin and at the Repos Jolys in St. Pierre for being so kind and caring to our mom. A special thank you goes out to nurse Jen for treating our mom like her own.
