Joseph Osyp Jaworsky

Peacefully on July 18, 2019 Osyp, husband of the late Anhelyna went to join the Lord .  With sorrowful hearts and great love our Tato and Dido left us. He will be missed, remembered and always loved by his daughter Marilyn (Andrew), sons Terry (Sally),  Myron (Caroline), special nephew Stanley (Charlotte), his darling grandchildren, Marika (Ian Leader), Alexa, Adriana.  In addition, nephews nieces and extended family Roman (Lisa) Jaworsky, James Jaworsky, Richard and Joy Deeley, Helen Deeley, Maria Majkrzyk, June and Leif Berg, Ron and Monica Storozuk, Peter and Anne Kyrzyk,  numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Christina, siblings Stephania, Evgenia, Michael and Volodymyr and daughter Christina. 

Osyp was born Stupnytsya, Drohobych, Western Ukraine on Dec. 4, 1926.  He farmed with his family there until 1944.  He was wounded twice in World War2 defending his homeland and eventually made his way to the American neutral zone and then into Belgium. While in Belgium he became a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association (SUM) and worked in coal mining until he immigrated to Canada in 1951. He settled in Drumheller  Alberta, there he continued in coal mining until 1952. When he moved to Winnipeg in 1953, he met his beloved Anhelyna Buchko and married in 1954. He worked in the automotive industry and he was an expert in what he did.  He continued to work long after his 27 years official service.  His passion and hard work inspired his children and was instrumental in establishing Mission Autobody.  In his 34 years retirement, he enjoyed travels with his family in Canada, United States and Ukraine.  He dedicated much energy, leadership and support to SUM as administrator of the dance ensemble, member delegate of Canadian Ukrainian Congress, member of League of Liberation of Ukrainian, Executive member of Canadian Institute Prosvita, President of Ukrainian Supplement school Ridna Skola, Senior Social club member, member of OUN Ukrainian Organization of Nationalists, and member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. Osyp joyfully appreciated his life and freedoms in Canada. One of his greatest delights was the independence of Ukraine.  Osyp had many interests and loved to garden, beekeep, wine make, tend to his apple orchard, and was passionate about his classic cars. His most joyful moments always were when he was with his family. He was very thankful for their presence, support and love.  Special thanks to the wonderful staff of St. Boniface and Victoria Hospitals.  Honorary pallbearers are Vasyl Kucharski, Mykola Kashty, Mike Zubach, Peter Manastyrsky, Roman and James Jaworsky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aid for Ukraine - Pomich Ukraini Fund 235 McGregor St,  or to Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosvita 777 Pritchard Avenue.  Prayers will be at 7 pm Wednesday July 24 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday July 25 at Sts Vladimir and Olga Cathedral 115 McGregor St with Rt Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Private family internment to follow.
