Marvin Morris Sichewski

August 3, 1940 ~ February 28, 2023 (age 82)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Marvin Sichewski of Winnipeg Manitoba on February 28th, 2023, at the age of 82 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years; Veronica (nee Shandalla), his 2 daughters; Carmen (Jeff Laurin) and Cathy (Paul Ursich) & granddaughter Claire Ursich.

Marvin was born in August 1940 and raised near Sandy Lake, Manitoba on the Sichewski family farm.  As a young man, he worked numerous tasks on the farm and operated the Rainbow Cafe.  He was employed by CN Rail where the job took him on a journey to many parts of Manitoba.  He met his best friend and love of his life, Veronica from Sandy Lake.  They would marry in October 1966.

Marvin and Veronica moved to Winnipeg and welcomed daughters, Carmen, and Cathy to make their family complete.  He worked various jobs in the food industry and was employed at Burns Ltd for over 20 years, from which he retired.

Marvin was a devoted husband and father, a family man and often the unofficial cheerleading volunteer member for his family’s activities like the Red River Operators (Red Hat Society), teacher professional events, Orioles Community Club, and countless social celebrations.

Marvin will be deeply missed by his large family and the wide circle of friends. He was always ready and willing when a family member, friend or neighbour needed a helping hand.  His extended family was so very important to him.

Marvin was a man of many passions including home renovating, woodworking, fishing, gardening, travel, sudoku puzzles and problem-solving repairs.   And is best remembered for his medal-winning amateur wine-making, animated storytelling and of course, being the ultimate Jets fan!

Marvin is survived by his brothers Mike, Ernie, Danny, Boris (Valerie), David, Chris (Diane), sister Elizabeth, sister-in-law Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin was predeceased by his brothers Walter, and Brian, sister Eileen Moroz (John), sister-in-laws Stella and Diane, and his parents William and Anne.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to our family and friends for the phone calls and notes sharing kind memories of Marvin.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, at 1:30 pm, at St. Ignatius Parish, Stafford St.  Interment will be held at a later date.
