OMELAN WOZNIAK
July 31, 1924 - March 19, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Omelan Wozniak on March 19, 2020 at the age of 95.
He was born in Sokal, Ukraine on July 31, 1924. After serving in the second World War, he worked in London, England where he raised enough money to immigrate to Canada in March of 1952.
Arriving in Winnipeg, he was employed by Honeysuckle Bakery until they closed in 1967. He then joined Bristol Aerospace and retired in 1992 after 25 years service.
Emil, as his friends called him, enjoyed relaxing at home, gardening, and travelling with his family to Dauphin, MB for the Ukrainian Festival. He was also a long-time parishioner of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral.
Dad’s memory was amazing, never needing a calendar to remember a birthday or anniversary. He remembered everything. He was still completing tax returns for the whole family every year.
Dad was a kind, loving and generous man who worked hard to provide for his family and always put their needs ahead of his own. His love and support for his children and grandchildren was never ending. Dad’s greatest joy was seeing his grandchildren grow. He was very proud of them and loved them dearly.
Dad will be loving remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Zofia; his daughter Anna and husband Todd Station; son Roman Wozniak and wife Leane; and his adoring grandchildren, Victoria, Nicholas, Emilia and Ava.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, a private memorial service is being held.
