On August 21, 2021, Steve Kiz peacefully passed away at Concordia Hospital at the age of 92.
Left to remember him are his three surviving sons: Stephen, Doug, and Rob; his six grandchildren: Adriana, Peter, Evan, Andrew, Austin, and Daniel; his sister-in-law Olga, nephew Ernest, niece Audrey, and his friend of 74 years, Henri Bohemier.
He was predeceased by his parents: Alex & Annie; his brothers: Peter, Paul, and Orest; his wife, Elsie; his son, Fred; and his companion of 35 years, Dolores Gibbons.
Steve was a long-time and well-loved member of the Eaton's Transportation department. Over his 43-year career and starting as a parcel delivery driver with a horse and wagon (Dad loved to talk about his horse Gunner), he rose to the Manager of Western Canada Transportation.
Steve also served Canada with the Armed Forces Reserve. A member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, he rose through the ranks to command the 735th Communications Squadron as a major, retiring as Hon. Lt. Col.
Steve was also active with Lutheran Church of the Cross, his church for many decades.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
